Cristo Redentor Fun Facts

By Masfashion

I loved getting to visit this Wonder of the World (awarded in 2007). It was so surreal after seeing it for years in books and magazines. Since I found the entire trip extremely interseting I thought I would share a few fun facts I learned after my visit. 1. At night it is lit up by flood lights to make the statue look like it is levitating. 2. Funds for the statue were raised by churches throughout Brazil. 3. On inauguration day Guglielmo Marconi flipped the switch to light up the floodlights. He was on his yacht in Genoa, Italy. 4. The building of Christ the Redeemer cost $250,000 dollars.
