According to the police, three persons including a criminal named “Hettiyawatte Charter Chuti” have been arrested in connection with the theft of a gem, gold jewelry and other valuables worth nearly Rs.350 million rupees from the Meegoda house of a garment factory owner.
Police found the gem weighing more than 35 carats, a Rolex wristwatch worth around Rs.1.5 million in the possession of the suspects. Police found 20 grams 300 mg of heroin in the possession of the main suspect. A police officer said that the suspects will interrogated to find the property including other gold items found inside the house.
In the businessman’s complaint he has stated that he received the gem from Turkey during business activities. Meegoda police is conducting further investigations.
