Crime Beat by @Connellybooks

By Pamelascott

Before Michael Connelly became a novelist, he was a crime reporter, covering the detectives who worked the homicide beat. In these vivid, hard-hitting pieces, Connelly leads the reader past the yellow police tape as he follows the investigators, the victims, their families and friends-and of, course, the killers-to tell the real stories of murder and its aftermath.

[Moments. It all comes down to moments. I have been watching the detectives for more than thirty years. It all started because of a single moment]

I'm a crime fiction groupie but I've never read Michael Connelly. I have no idea why. I loved this audiobook so I will probably check out his fiction in the future. I've listened to a lot of true crime podcasts on Audible and really enjoy them. This audiobook is split into short segments very much like a podcast episode. I really enjoyed listening to this. I like the fact the book also focuses on the impact of crime on the family of victims and the family of criminals.
