Russian PM Vladimir Putin is widely expected to win the presidential election which takes place in March, propelling him back to the Russian presidency for a third term. But the ex-KGB man, who faces increasing domestic opposition, is taking nothing for granted.
In an effort to woo new voters, his camp has come up with a somewhat creepy ad seemingly aimed at young girls. In the spot, a young blonde Russian girl tells a fortune teller that it will be her “first time.” “I see it will be for love,” responds the psychic, revealing a tarot card with Vladimir Putin’s (hunky) image on it. The tag line rams home the virginity message: “Putin. The first time — only for love.”
Putin has long cultivated his rugged man image – he’s been photographed as a bare-chested tough-guy, a leather-clad biker, a horseman, a diver, and as a jet pilot.
John Hudson at The Atlantic Wire said that, “here in the U.S., we’ve seen a lot of ill-advised electioneering this year but Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin takes it to a new level with his new TV ad targeting virgin women.”
