This Cranberry Sage Cocktail is re-created from Seasons 52, one of my favorite restaurants. It was a leap of faith but I'm so glad I tried it; it's now a favorite holiday cocktail too!
A few years ago I had the pleasure of being invited to dinner at the Seasons 52 restaurant near me in Park Meadows; a large shopping complex north of where I live. A friend and I enjoyed an amazing lunch and the restaurant was gracious enough to provide me with the recipe for this Cranberry Sage Cocktail we enjoyed during that meal.
My plan was to re-create it and share it here. Time got away from me and that did not happen, but I did recreate one of the dishes I enjoyed there another time, this Sonoma Goat Cheese Torta; each time I go I want to make EVERYTHING! They might be a chain but their seasonal variations make their dishes fresh and delicious...worth trying if you have one close to you.

Why did I not get this drink finished pronto? I had one concern and I'm glad I checked. It was late in the cranberry season and since this was a Cranberry Sage Cocktail I thought it behooved me to check on the availability of one of my favorite berries.
Good thing too...the season was waning and I was told at three different places that it would not be a given that shoppers would still be able to find fresh cranberries. I punted, did the layered goat cheese appetizer instead and saved that cocktail until later...and then forgot about it!
No time like the present right? This Cranberry Sage Cocktail is so good and so beautiful and just perfect for the season we're in; I know you'll love it too. Still later than I would like but with a whole week of festivities ahead of us...I thought still worthy of sharing. Plus, if you're making turkey, save a couple of those sage leaves for this Cranberry Sage Cocktail; it might sound unusual but it is perfect when muddled with the other ingredients and no, it does not have the scent of stuffing!
It is a gin based cocktail and I simply love the combination of gin with it's juniper tones with the freshness and tartness of cranberry as also exemplified by this Cranberry Gin Fizz, another perennial holiday favorite.
I'm reminded too of how much I enjoyed that trip to Seasons 52 and need to get back soon. The name is not just a moniker, they truly change their menu with the seasons. Their menu offerings combine fresh ingredients with fantastic presentations and will leave you wanting for more.
This cocktail was a hit and I'm hoping will be back in their rotation every holiday season but if you're not near one or, are like me right now, sitting in your fuzzy robe trying to ward off the chill, make one of these Cranberry Sage Cocktails from Seasons 52 at home and I'll join you. Cheers!
