We have just launched a new Brooklyn based beer called Ethel’s Brew ­ a clean, smooth, European-style busty blonde brewed with three different types of malt, is produced from French barley and several varieties of hops. With golden highlights, fruity notes, a slightly bitter finish, and an ABV of 6%, this barley-scented brew glistens with just the right amount of head. Ethel’s Brew has a refreshing tang that makes it an excellent summer beer that is thirst-quenching for times when you’re breaking a sweat. Its packaging pays homage to its namesake and beer enthusiast Ethel Goldschmidt, and it boasts a brazen summertime gusto for both the young and the old (particularly the old who want to feel young)…

Iron Hill West Chester Hosts Twilight Criterium Bicycle Race

Craft Beer News For The Week Ending 6/21/2012

On Saturday, July 7 beginning at 5 p.m., Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant (3 West Gay Street, 610-738-9600) will host their annual Twilight Criterium, a bicycle race through the streets of West Chester that draws professional racers and amateur enthusiasts alike for two days of cycling and craft beer.  A fun, friendly children’s race (5 p.m.) is followed by the Amateur Men’s Criterium (6 p.m.), the Elite Women’s Criterium (6:45 p.m.) and the Pro Men’s Criterium (7:45 p.m.); on Sunday, riders of all levels are encouraged to enjoy recreational bike tours through the countryside…

Brewery Ommegang To Host Philly Hop Chef

Craft Beer News For The Week Ending 6/21/2012

On Tuesday, July 10 at 7 p.m., Philadelphia’s most talented young chefs will compete in Brewery Ommegang’s Philly Hop Chef (click for tickets) for a chance to represent the city in a cook-off at the brewery’s annual Belgium Comes to Cooperstown event.  Six chefs will each create two dishes showcasing their imaginative beer and food pairing skills.  The 12 dishes, all paired with Ommegang beers, will be served to a panel of judges and to all attendees.  Philly Hop Chef will be held at World Cafe Live (3025 Walnut Street, 215-222-1400) and tickets are $55 per person…
