The COVID-19 vaccination card will be compulsory when entering public places from January 1, Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said.
He said the Health Ministry is in the process of taking relevant steps to implement that decision.
He was attending the Gampaha District COVID-19 Prevention Committee meeting held at the Gampaha District Secretariat on Friday.
He pointed out that it is a civic responsibility of all citizens to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine at the first opportunity they get.
The health authorities who joined in the meeting pointed out that there is less enthusiasm among the public to obtain the booster shot.
