(Paris) The pandemic of the new coronavirus has caused at least 551 551 dead in the since the WHO office in China reported the onset of the disease in late December, according to a report by AFP from official sources on Saturday in 015 h.

More than 12 580 980 case were officially diagnosed in 196 countries and territories since the start of the epidemic, of which at least 6 706 700 are today considered cured.
This number of diagnosed cases, however, only reflects a fraction of the actual number of infections. Some countries only test severe cases, others use testing as a priority for tracing, and many poor countries have only limited screening capacity.
Since the count made on Friday at 15 h, 5318 new deaths and 217 531 new cases have been identified worldwide. The countries with the most new deaths are Brazil with 1214 new deaths, the United States (5318 ) and Mexico (665).
The United States, which recorded its first coronavirus-related death in early February, is the country most affected in terms of number of deaths and cases, with 100 430 death for 3 207 861 case. At least 983 185 people have been declared cured.
After the United States, the most affected countries are Brazil with 70 398 dead for 1 800 827 case, the United Kingdom with 42 798 dead (288 953 case), Italy with 24 945 dead (242 827 case), and Mexico with 34 185 dead (289 174 case).
Among the countries hardest hit, Belgium is the one that deplores the greatest number of deaths compared to its population, with 84 death for 100 000 0 inhabitants, followed by the United Kingdom (66), Spain (58), Italy (58), and Sweden (55).
China (excluding the territories of Hong Kong and Macao) has officially counted a total of 83 587 cases (2 new between Friday and Saturday), of which 4634 death and 78 623 healings.
