Sometimes opposites and other times, when combined, they create beauitful fashion magic together. This is how I feel when the more formal, classic style mixes with the more easy-going, free-flowing boho style. What I've compiled for you below is how I'd do boho. My interpretation of classic-meets-boho includes a number of neutrals, layering of gold tones and a splash of zigzag pattern throughout.
Gold dot Jacket by Calypso St. Barth, $199 (sale!) | Evil Eye Necklace by Low Luv by Erin Wasson, $143 | Zigzag print bikini by Milly, $62 (each) | Blue Faded Boyfried Jeans by Rag & Bone, $175 | Gold Ring Stack by house of Harlow, $100 | Straw Tote by Mossimo for Target, $36 | Ciara Sandals by L.A.M.B., $254 |
As a fan of neutrals, I selected a light neutral base with the gold dot jacket and the light faded denim. When mixing styles of any kind, it's important to carry the colours and fabrics that you lean towards most.
Here I experimented with a new pattern, like the zigzag shown in the bikini and the straw tote bag, that I could see myself wearing again. The bikini and the bag are both great ways to experiment with a new pattern because I'll likely use them again as they are less frequented items of your closet and they are relatively low investment items. I've repeated this same technique by layering two pieces of gold jewelery. Top the whole look off with a solid pair of leather sandals.
You can breathe new life into a typical style by blending it with your own tastes and by making it your own. Cohesion may be the antithesis of what the boho style is about, but it is certainly a suitable style technique for those who prefer a more put-together look.
Forget the typical maxi dress when going boho! Think outside the style box, but within the boundaries of your personal style, and you're sure to create an interpretation that is uniquely yours.
