dayshiftTrue Blood’s inspiration, Charlaine Harris second book in her series set in the small town of Midnight, Texas cover art has just been released. The title of the book is “Day Shift” and it will be published on May 5, 2015.

The first Midnight book, Midnight Crossroad, hit No. 33 on USA TODAY’s Best-Selling Books list in May.

Harris, best known for her vampire thrillers featuring Louisiana waitress Sookie Stackhouse (the basis for HBO’s True Blood), has left that series behind. But Sookie isn’t completely forgotten: Harris and Toni L.P. Kelner have edited Dead But Not Forgotten, a collection of Stackhouse stories by popular urban fantasy and mystery authors. It will publish on Tuesday. Harris selected the writers who participate.

The Midnight books feature the witchy Olivia Charity and telephone pyschic Manfred Bernardo and, like the Sookie series, bring supernatural beings and plain old humans together. Day Shift digs deeper into the mysterious goings-on in the town of Midnight.
