The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court yesterday (25) issued an order preventing the Convenor of the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF) Wasantha Mudalige and another 6 activits from traveling overseas.

The order was made by Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage after considering a request made by the Colombo Crimes Division.

The Colombo Crimes Division informed the Magistrate that investigations are underway against the six individuals for causing damage to public property during an unlawful assembly opposite the Police HQ in Colombo.

Police informed Court that public property was damaged during the protest and the suspects committed offenses under the Public Property Act.

Accordingly, the travel ban was imposed on six persons including the convener of the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF) Wasantha Mudalige, General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers’ Union (CTU) Joseph Stalin, National Organiser of the Socialist Youth Union (SYU) Eranga Gunasekara, Rangana Lakmal Devapriya, Rev.Fr. Jeewantha Peiris and youth activist Lahiru Weerasekara preventing them leaving the country.
