Countdown to Laugh Your Asheville Off, Today’s Comedian Danny Kallas

Posted on the 24 July 2013 by Citizenthymes @citizenthymes

21 days left until Asheville’s annual comedy festival, Laugh Your Asheville Off, August 13th to August 17th.

Today’s feature comedian that will be performing at Laugh Your Asheville Off is Danny Kallas.

From Kallas’s Bio:

Loud. Soft-spoken. Intelligent. Dumb. Those are some adjectives that have been used to describe comedian Danny Kallas. His act’s all over the place, from absurd silliness to smart satire. Danny’s material is delivered in his thick, blue-collar accent and he sounds like he could easily be your neighborhood mechanic. Yet when listening to the words, you quickly find there’s much more behind his voice.

Danny was a finalist in the Laughing Devil Comedy Festival in New York City in 2012, the winner of SnubFest in Chicago in 2009, and has participated in numerous other comedy festivals including Laughing Skull Comedy Festival in Atlanta in 2011 and 2013 and TBS’ Just for Laughs in Chicago in 2011 and TBS’ Just for Laughs Chicago in 2012 where he opened for both Hannibal Buress and T.J. Miller.

Danny was named to comedy.com’s list of funniest Chicago comedians and is co-creator, co-producer, and member of the stand-up comedy collective Comedians You Should Know, whose 2011 self-titled album debuted #1 on the iTunes comedy chart. Since its inception in 2008, CYSK has produced a weekly show in Chicago that has received praise from stand-up comedy fans and fellow stand-up comedians across the country for its commitment to showcasing the best in Chicago stand-up comedy and visiting guests. CYSK has also gotten critical-acclaim from several media outlets, most notably The Onion’s A.V. Club who said about CYSK: “The genuine quality of talent on display is unrivaled in Chicago.”
