To say it’s long overdue that I share some of my Costa Rican adventure on here would be an understatement.
One of the biggest reasons behind my trip, and (thankfully in that case!) one of the biggest highlights, was the wildlife. I’m not ashamed to admit that getting to encounter sloths was top of the list when planning the visit, but I don’t think I realised then the wealth of other species I’d get to marvel at – be it birds, mammals or reptiles.
Knowing I’d be trekking in the jungle and rainforest at lot, I made the decision to leave my bulky DSLR at home and picked up a relatively cheap camera to take away. Although I don’t think the photos are as good as they might have been with my regular camera, I’m still pleased with what I did get, given the camera fitted in my pocket!
Here’s a selection of highlights of the animals of Costa Rica – seen either in the wild or at the wonderful Toucan Rescue Ranch.
Two-toed sloth / Baby three-toed sloth / Wild three-toed mother and baby sloths
Iguana / Green Spiny Lizard / Basilisk (Jesus Christ) Lizard
