The numbers in the chart above are from The COVID Tracking Project. They show the number of new cases of coronavirus sickness for each day of the month of June in Texas.
On May 1st, Texas Governor Greg Abbott decided that Donald Trump was right, and Texas needed to reopen its businesses. He also ended mandatory social distancing and wearing of face masks.
Things went OK for a few weeks, giving the illusion that Abbott had done the right thing. But the Coronavirus doesn't make itself know immediately, and after a few weeks it began to show itself again.
Currently, the new cases of Coronavirus is rapidly growing in Texas. On the last day of June, 6,975 cases were reported -- a new one-day record for the state.
It is now obvious that Texas reopened too soon!
