CORONA: School Bus Loss Projected to Help City

The Corona-Norco school district’s loss of busing seems to be sending students onto city routes

Corona expects to reap some rewards from the local school district eliminating busing for hundreds of students.

When Corona-Norco Unified School District officials voted in May to cut busing for 779 middle, intermediate and high school students during the next school year, the city of Corona’s struggling bus system projected it would get a boost.

A city transit study this month shows a slight rise in revenue, at 2 percent, from the number of riders, some of which can be attributed to students.

“We did factor that into our projections,” said Corona Transportation Planning Manager Brian Champion.
