Corona Relief: Center to Give Rs 11,092 Crore to States, Rs 500 in 4.07 Crore Women Account

Corona Relief: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday approved financial assistance to all states to prevent the spread of corona virus. Shah approved the release of an amount of Rs 11,092 crore for segregation and other facilities under the State Disaster Risk Management Fund (SDRFF).

The Home Ministry said that the fund has been approved after Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured the Chief Ministers during a video conference on Thursday. According to a statement from the Ministry, the Home Minister has approved the release of an amount of Rs 11,092 crore under SDRMF to all states.

The fund said that the fund would be used for building segregation facilities, collecting and screening samples, building additional testing laboratories, purchasing personal safety equipment for health, corporations, police and fire personnel, thermal scanners, ventilators, air purifiers etc. will be used.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said that on March 14, the Central Government made special provision for the use of SDRF to provide additional funds to the State Governments to take steps for prevention of Kovid-19.

Rs 500-500 to Jan Dhan account of 4.07 crore women

At the same time, the Center deposited the first installment of Rs 500-500 as a relief package in the Jan Dhan account of 4.07 crore poor women of the country in view of the nationwide lockdown implemented due to Corona virus.

Officials said that the funds released by the Ministry of Rural Development will be deposited in more than 20.39 crore Jan Dhan accounts of women by the end of the first week of April.

Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on March 26, in view of the 21-day nationwide bandh imposed due to the corona virus. Under this, he had informed about depositing Rs 500-500 assistance amount for the next three months from April.

Officials said that the government has prepared a payment table based on the last digit of the account to comply with social distance and withdraw money from the beneficiaries smoothly. Officials said that these account holders would also be eligible for monthly pension and other benefits given to the poor.
