Corner Workstation – Part 2

By Heather @home_modern

A few days ago I revealed our new corner computer workstation purchase that’s slated for a major makeover.  To recap, once put together (pre-paint) it will look like this (fingers crossed):

Corner Workstation – Part 2

My plans to jazz it up with a bit of paint are inspired by the iconic Dorothy Draper chest.  It’s the perfect marriage of glass black paint, gold accents and timeless hardware.

Since the unpainted workstation is sitting in our living room in some 100-odd pieces waiting to be assembled, I thought it would be easier to paint it prior to assembling it since it has several drawers and cubbies that could be hard to paint once put together.  I’ll be using a Rustoleum high gloss black enamel spray paint, along with Martha Stewart Living’s gold metallic glaze paint for the trim work (it’s actually goldy-er than in the photo below).  I also bought these amazing brass lion head ring pulls for super cheap on eBay and was pleasantly surprised at how substantial they are in person.  I love them so much it will be a challenge not to strap them on everything in our house!

Corner Workstation – Part 2

Sure, our corner workstation doesn’t have the exact same lines as Ms. Draper’s perpetually chic chest, but I think it will wear the look well. The black will be dramatic, but I’m inspired by the presence it brings to these rooms, which are similar to our living room in their use of light surrounding colors.

What do you think?  Yay or nay?

Tell me soon before I start spray painting!
