While buying a budget smartphone users look for a phone that has good performance, Multitasking, Good camera performance and a decent looking phone. Coolpad Note 3 lite fits the bill, quite literally. The phone was launched recently with a price tag of Rs. 6,999. Let us review the device and see how it fares on the parameters of a budget smartphone buyer.

Design

In terms of design Coolpad Note 3 lite resembles its elder sibling, Coolpad Note 3. It gets a very elegant look from symmetrical design and the golden ring that covers the camera lens give the phone an appealing look. The back panel of the phone is textured hence accidental falls are quite rare.

Fingerprint sensor located on the back is easily reachable with fingers that are average sized and is very responsive too.  We did not face any issues whatsoever while unlocking the device. Location of the headphone jack and charging jack is just perfect. On the sides, you have a volume rocker and the power button is located on the other side of the phone.

The thing you would notice while using the phone is the bezel or the lack of it. The front is almost bezel-less which gives ample screen space. Overall in terms of design, this is a very beautifully designed phone.

Screen

Coolpad Note 3 lite comes wit ha 5 inched HD IPS screen with 1280*720 px resolution. Outdoor visibility of the screen is very good. It’s very bright and colourful. Colours rendered by the device were looked real and images were pretty crisp. You would enjoy watching movies on the device.

The company claims that the screen is scratch resistant and We decided to give it a real test and tried to scratch the screen with keys and nails we did not see any marks or scratches at all.

Performance

Note 3 Lite has a fingerprint scanner which works amazingly perfect. It responds to touch like a charm and unlocks the device every time you want it to. We found FP Lock as the best feature that the device has. This locks your personal apps and can only be accessed when you swipe your finger on the scanner. This is extremely useful and keeps your personal data safe and secured. FP lock allows you to lock up to 5 apps. Overall the performance of the phone was lag free and we were extremely pleased.

The device works on Android 5.1 OS and has a 1.3 Ghz Mediatek MT 6375 Quad core processor. It is only of the only few devices available in the market currently that has 3 GB ram. It works out best for gamers. You won’t be able to get such specification in a device which is priced less than Rs 7,000. It’s due to this 3 GB ram that the phone can easily manage heavy games or HD contents easily. The device does not lag at all while multitasking and is perfectly smooth. While using the camera for clicking photos or shooting videos or playing games, the phone does not heat up like other devices in the same or even higher segment.

Camera

The company has tried its level best to make a decent camera phone. It has a 13 MP with f2.2 aperture rear camera and a 5MP front camera for a selfie and video calling. The camera UI is pretty clean and easy to understand and has Normal, Face beauty and HDR features. It also has gesture shot which clicks pictures as soon as it identifies a gesture. The camera focuses pretty quickly and low light performance is decent too while pictures clicked in daylight came out amazingly beautiful.

Selfie lovers would like the front 5MP camera which uses its unique algorithm to make the images look beautiful and gives perfect selfies. Overall its one of the best camera phone in this range.

Battery

Coolpad Note 3 lite has a 2500 mAh battery and we would consider it a decent performer. With average usage, it can easily survive for 12-13 hours in a single charge without you looking for a charger. However, if you’re into gaming or use the phone for photography then you may need to carry a charger along with you. It may take 2-2.15 hrs to charge your phone fully as it does not have a quick charge feature. That may be a drawback, however, you can’t ask much for 6,999. Can you?

Storage

The device comes with 16 Gb of internal storage out of which 11 GB is available for the user. Memory can be expanded up to 32 GB using a MicroSD card.

Connectivity

For connectivity, the phone supports 4G,3G and Wifi apart from normal like GPS, Bluetooth and FM Radio.
