Cool Cats FC uses Chainlink VRF to give out rewards in a fair way

Cool Cats FC, an NFT collection made by Cool Cats, Animoca Brands, and OneFootball, now has Chainlink Verifiable Random Function (VRF) on Polygon Mainnet. By integrating this leading decentralized oracle network, they can use a random number generator (RNG) that can’t be changed and can be checked. Users can confirm that they have an equal chance of winning game-worn and signed items, once-in-a-lifetime in-person events, digital treasures, and much more. This makes the user experience more exciting and clear.

With the Cool Cats FC NFT collection, football fans from all over the world are coming together to celebrate the World Cup, which is the biggest sporting event in the world. Each of the 32 teams in Cool Cats FC is represented by one of the 3,000 dynamic NFTs in the set. Holders can see how their team’s performance changes from the group stage through the round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals.

As their teams move forward, holders can win a wide range of exciting prizes. The winners of the grand prize will get to travel to Milan, where they will get to meet one of the best football players in the world, see a VIP football game at AC Milan, get a private tour of the San Siro Stadium, and meet the people who came up with the idea for Cool Cats FC. All holders also have the chance to win autographed and game-used jerseys, tickets to Serie A games between AC Milan, Juventus, and Napoli, and digital items like OneFootball Digital Video Moments (DVM) Packs, Cool Cats NFTs, and Cool Pets NFTs.

To randomly give out Cool Cats FC incentives, creators need access to a secure random number generator (RNG) that any user can check on their own. A number of security factors need to be taken into account by RNG solutions for smart contracts so that they can’t be manipulated and the system’s integrity is kept. For example, miners and validators can use RNG solutions made from blockchain data, such as block hashes. However, off-chain RNG solutions made from off-chain APIs are not transparent and often don’t give users any proof that the process is honest.

After looking at several options, Cool Cats FC chose Chainlink VRF because it is protected by the creation and on-chain verification of cryptographic proofs that confirm the integrity of each random number given to smart contracts, is backed by cutting-edge academic research and is supported by a reliable, time-tested oracle network.

Rewards have become an important part of releasing new NFT collections because they give holders a chance to win things that can be used in the real world. Stephen Teglas, the CEO of Cool Cats, says that by adding Chainlink VRF to the way Cool Cats FC rewards are given out, users can confirm that they all have an equal chance to win autographed jerseys, digital memorabilia, and a trip to the AC Milan stadium.

How does it work?

Chainlink VRF combines block data, which is still unknown at the time of the first request, with the oracle node’s private key, which has already been made public. This gives a random number and cryptographic proof. The Cool Cats FC smart contract will only accept a random number as input if it has valid cryptographic proof, which can only be made if the VRF procedure can’t be changed. Not only does this show that our system for giving out rewards is based on randomness, but it also gives customers automatic and verifiable assurances that the Cool Cats FC team, outside parties, or the oracle did not tamper with the selection process.
