Convert and Earn Up to 25,000 Aeroplan Miles

By Travellingtheworld

Aeroplan is running a special campaign offering up to 25,000 bonus Aeroplan Miles for converting your third party loyalty points or miles to Aeroplan Miles. The campaign ends Dec. 9, 2013.

You can convert your third party points/miles such as Cathay Pacific/Asia Miles, Icelandair Saga Club, HHonors, Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG), Marriott Rewards & Hertz. Aeroplan also, in its site for conversion, lists the eligible partners and how to go about transferring the Points.

Membership Rewards program from American Express is usually eligible for conversion, but will not be eligible for this bonus campaign.

To convert your Loyalty Points/Miles to Aeroplan, log into your loyalty program, and follow the links to execute the conversion.

The Aeroplan bonus system works as follows:

  • For transfer of 5,000 points – 1,000 bonus Aeroplan Miles
  • For transfer of 10,000 points – 2,000 bonus Aeroplan Miles
  • For transfer of 20,000 points – 4,000 bonus Aeroplan Miles
  • For transfer of 50,000 points – 10,000 bonus Aeroplan Miles
  • For transfer of 100,000 points – 25,000 bonus Aeroplan Miles

Some Points to Note on the Aeroplan Conversion Campaign:

  • Depending on your loyalty program, the conversion rate can be anywhere between 1=1 to 25=1 Aeroplan Miles.
  • Some Loyalty programs, such as Starwood Preferred Guest Program, offer their own bonuses when you convert. This would mean you could earn more bonus Aeroplan Miles when you convert.
  • But, Aeroplan Miles bonuses are offered only in the above-mentioned stages. So, for example, you will get only 4,000 Aeroplan Miles for transfer of 20,000-49,999 Loyalty points/miles.
  • On the other hand, Aeroplan has started devaluing its redemption system (new fuel surcharges, new redemption rules starting Jan. 1, 2014, etc.,), so unless you clearly see an advantage, this bonus might not be that great.
