From my first visit to the Palm Springs Air Museum. The single-seat Delta Dart interceptor was a real hot rod, setting a world speed record of 1,525 mph in 1959. The F-106B was a two-seat, combat-capable trainer version. Interestingly (for the aerodynamicists), due to the extra seat, the fuselage is actually better area ruled. This aircraft was one of six acquired in 2000 by the late David Tokoph in an uncompleted project to break the single engine speed record set in 1959. First flown in 1959, The Six (as nicknamed) served in military service until 1988 and was used by NASA until 1998. This aircraft was added to the Museum collection in late 2016.
