In my back-and-forth dance between looseness and control, I sharpened the colors and composition in two of my latest abstract paintings. Instead of painting quickly and loosely, I filled in a few shapes with color and then stood back to assess the result. This process is slower, but allows a sharpening of color and composition. I focused on the reds and oranges first, then worked with yellow oxide.
There is more to do another day.
