Compton’s Chief Empowerment Officer, Aja Brown is running for Congress!
Mayor Aja Brown made it official on Thursday, when she announced that she’s running to represent California’s 44th Congressional District, the same district Clueless actress Stacy Dash is also running in.
“I’ve served as mayor. I really served as a catalyst for a major turnaround for the community that has historically been underserved and disadvantaged. The growth in Compton is evident, it’s tangible that you can touch, and so I would like to take my service to a greater level,” Brown said, KABC reports.
Brown was just on hand to support hometown Shero, Ava DuVernay’s Disney ‘A Wrinkle In Time’ Compton screening. Disney turned a community center into a movie theater (Compton doesn’t have one) so that 300 students could get the opportunity to see the film.
