This is my first time reading the poet. I really enjoyed this little chapbook. The poems in this little book are sweet yet sad and incredibly moving at the same time. The poems focus on love and memory. It's not explicitly stated but the poems appear to be about grief following the death of a mother. Redwood is the stand-out poem, so sad and bitter ( I cried uncontrollably, seated in the pews of my old church; mom, help me find the pieces of myself). The poems are very moving. I also loved 4am ( My mind bookmarked the smell of4am, under the moon's gleam like the pages of our favourite book). I would definitely read more of this poet's work.
