Barry Bennett hates being called Barry. In fact it’s number 2 on the list of things he blames his parents for, along with 1) ‘being boring’ and 3) ‘always being tired’.

But there is a world, not far from this one, where parents don’t have children. That’s far too random for something so big and important. In this world, children are allowed to choose their parents. children. That’s far too random for something so big and important. In this world, children are allowed to choose their parents.

The Parent Agency is the work of author David Baddiel. Like many 9 year olds the main character Barry Bennett longs to change his dull parents for another set. One day his wish comes true and he suddenly finds his self in a world where he is able to choose his own parents. Throughout the book, Barry tried out several would be parents each with their own rather funny flaws. Hr had many adventures along the way
He eventually decides that there is no place like home and returns back to his own parents and his much hated younger twin sisters.

This character sounds a little like a little boy whom I know very very well. A boy who hates one of his sisters and thinks his mommy is boring and does not let him do anything. It’s not surprising therefore that Ryan also loves this book. I’m sure many 9 year olds will also relate to the character in many ways.

The Parent Agency is produced by Harper Collins and aimed at anyone aged 9 and over. It went on general sales on October 9th and is available to buy on AMAZON as well as most book stores.
