Truebies that are headed to Comic Con 2013 may want to make some time in the SDCC Friday schedule for this True Blood themed event! Michael McMillian who plays the reverend turned vampire Steve Newlin on the HBO series will be signing teaser copies of a new book slated to come out this fall on July 19th.

Entitled Steve Newlin’s Field Guide to Vampires (and Other Creatures of Satan), the book is a collection of observations made by the character while he was still human in the form of a journal all about the vampires. But when Newlin was turned and kidnapped, Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) got a hold of the book and added their own snarky comments, corrections and other amusing tidbits. It also provides new character and story information too!

“An endlessly entertaining read, True Blood: Steve Newlin’s Field Guide to Vampires is packed with untold insight into key storylines and several compelling characters including a chapter that discusses what happened to the relationship between Newlin and his wife Sarah (Anna Camp). Along with photos, letters, postcards, and handwritten notes, the journal also includes a tourist map to Bon Temps and Steve’s own idle doodles all of which perfectly capture the tongue-in-cheek humor that has made True Blood a hit.”

Michael will be signing in Autograph Area 19 on the 19th between 12 and 1:30PM which is located in the Sails Pavilion.

Steve Newlin’s Field Guide to Vampires (and Other Creatures of Satan) is co-written by McMillian and Gianna Sobol, the associate producer for True Blood. This isn’t their first foray into writing related media for the show. Both have worked on the True Blood Comics series and Sobol started off the Inside True Blood Blog and was involved in the writing of the True Blood cookbooks.

The release date for the book will be October 29, 2013.

This is bound to be a fun event! Go see Michael Truebies!
