A thank you to Ricky Chong from Food Morning and Tracy Wang from CoLunching for inviting me to the CoLunching get together at Miss Chu. CoLunching seems to be quite 'hot' right now because it was even on the the Sydney Morning Herald recently. CoLunching is
basically a real life social networking experience through dining so to
me, it was like twitter or facebook but in 'real life'.

CoLunching allows you to meet a bunch of people (some new as well as some familiar faces) while trying out a new restaurant at each time.
The concept was quite new to me and it was my first time trying out such a concept. I will admit I was slightly nervous at the beginning because I wasn't sure at how it would all go. It kind of reminded me of my first day at high school yonks ago where I barely knew people or anyone at all.

The CoLunching group that night
As the night went on, the nerves went away and it was interesting to get to know some people within several hours of the night. The steam boat was a good idea because it involved more interaction with everyone that attended. Generally most restaurants offer a set menu so it saves you having to decide what to order and if the people you met minutes ago would agree to your orders and so forth.
CoLunching events are usually priced between $30 to $40 for food, depending on what is on the menu and at which restaurant it is at. The size of the groups can range between 8 to 15 or even 20 people at times. The bigger the group means that you get to meet more people however realistically speaking, based on how dinner tables are arranged, you might not be able to actually speak to everyone on the night.
From my experience, I was only able to really get to know approximately half the people that night. The age group of people was a mix, starting from people in their late twenties (at a rough guess). As usual, I always find myself to be the youngest of the group! Nevertheless, the people I met seemed friendly and fun to talk to.
