Adult coloring books have been all the rage lately. I have to admit that when I first saw them start to pop up I rolled my eyes and shook my head at the latest trend taking over bookshelves across the world. Then one day while visiting a friend, I was invited to color by her very persistent 5-year old. I reluctantly obliged and then proceeded to spend the next hour lost in her little world coloring puppies, ponies, and all things cute.

It turns out by the time we were done coloring I had a great time and I also felt incredibly relaxed. It was at that point I decided to give adult coloring books a shot. I can now say that I’m not only hooked on coloring but I absolutely love it! When I recently heard about the Travel Between the Lines Adult Coloring Book  I knew I just had to check it out and share it with our fellow ramblers.

Travel Between the Lines

One of the things that makes this book very different from most of the adult coloring books out there is that instead of using imaginary or surreal images the “authors” did something really unique. They took a collection of their favorite travel photos (47 to be exact) and turned them into illustrations that you can color.

That means you can find one of your favorite travel destinations and bring it to life realistically, or you can pick a scene and color it however you’d like. You can work on your travel bucket list while discovering and coloring an image from a place you’ve never been. It’s the best of both worlds if you ask me!

For my first image, I chose to color in this lovely street scene from Lisbon. How’d I do?

Personally,  I enjoyed coloring something familiar while also being able to give it my own personal twist.
