For failing to stop the modulated salary the Osun state government pays workers, lecturers at the College of Education, Ilesa have embarked on indefinite strike.

The workers under the aegis of Colleges of Education Academic staff Union (COEASU), Ilesa branch said the continuous reception of half salaries has left them in untold hardship.

They also demanded for the payment of half salary arrears and deductions which they claimed is about 36 months.

Addressing journalists after demonstrating in protest while armed with placards, the chairman of the Ikea's chapter of the union, Olusegun Lana said the state government has failed to stop the modulated salary of the workers as promised.

He said the workers were also seeking for the immediate reinstatement of about 42 staff who were allgedly dismissed unjustly in 2016 among other demands.

In its reaction, the state government blamed economic crunch fornits inability to pay full salary to workers.

Speaking through the commissioner for Information and strategy, Adelani Baderinwa said the government was yet to be stable financially hence the delay in fulfilling the promise to put an end to modulated salary.

The commissioner however assured that the government is committed to the welfare of the workers in the state.
