Coinbase Is Producing A Three-Part Film Series About The Bored Ape Yacht Club

Posted on the 12 April 2022 by Nftnewspro

Coinbase, the digital currency exchange, is partnering up with the popular non-fungible token (NFT) project Bored Ape Yacht Club to produce a three-part video series (BAYC). Coinbase Entertainment will produce the films, which will feature selected BAYC NFT characters from the Bored Ape NFT community.

On April 11, Coinbase revealed its intention to make a film trilogy devoted to the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection. The film trilogy, according to one37pm.com, is “celebrating and amplifying the BAYC community.”

Coinbase confirmed the films on Twitter after the publication of a teaser tweet signaling that something was on the way. A few hours later, Coinbase tweeted again, this time with the following message:

“Definitely something. We’re creating an interactive three-part film featuring the [Bored Ape Yacht Club] & Apecoin communities. Come build with us [at] degentrilogy.com.”

According to the one37pm.com announcement, Bored Ape owners can submit their NFTs to the web portal degentrilogy.com, and if chosen, the Bored Apes will appear in the three-part film adventure, which will also feature the Apecoin project.

“At Coinbase, we are dedicated to creating and supporting content projects that speak directly to our community and sustaining the culture of Web3 innovation,” Coinbase Entertainment and culture marketing director William Swann said in a statement. Continuing, Swann:

” As we aim to bring the next billion people into the crypto economy, we firmly believe that this interactive film series will act as a catalyst to serve that mission and help audiences understand the collaborative nature of Web3. We’ve been inspired by the Bored Ape Yacht Club community and [we are] excited to invite them to co-create this film with us.”

The Film Trilogy is a “breakthrough project” for NFTs, according to Yuga Labs’ CEO.

On Twitter, Coinbase announced that users can contribute to the film’s production by connecting their wallet, uploading a Bored Ape, and “hiding an easter egg.” The partnership with BAYC comes as Coinbase gears up to launch the next generation of its NFT Market. The exchange announced a partnership with Mastercard in mid-January to help grow the NFT market. Credit and debit card holders of Mastercard will be able to use the deal to purchase non-fungible token assets on the Coinbase NFT marketplace.

Nicole Muniz, CEO of Yuga Labs, the company behind the NFT project Bored Ape Yacht Club, stated that the film trilogy with Coinbase is a game changer for NFTs and entertainment.

“We’re seeing how NFTs are evolving to be vehicles of access and participation in networks, games, merchandise, and now interactive entertainment,” Muniz explained during the announcement on Monday. This is a breakthrough project and we’re excited to see how this shapes the future of Web3 for all communities,” Yuga Labs’ CEO stated.
