This is my first time reading the author. I enjoyed the poems in this collection. I have specific tastes in contemporary poetry and the ones found in this collection are exactly the kind I enjoy. Cocktails with a Dead Man is a diverse collection that tackles a range of ideas, concepts and subject matter. The poems are well written and engaging and a pleasure to read. I especially liked A Simple Synopsis, How I Love, Creak of Chatter, Postcards from a Stranger in Far-Off Places, Hang Me and Happy Hour at the Paradise Bar & Grill.

NB: The collection loses one star because of the arrogant blurb on Amazon 'These poems leave no doubt in our minds that the poet is a great artist and poet by birth. The poet's mastery of words is remarkable and incomparable'. Nope, sorry, there are many famous poets in the world who are much better. This blurb would have put me off reading the collection if I hadn't already agreed to read it. I dislike arrogance.
