Oakland-based five-piece Club Night have unveiled ‘Mute’ and ‘Trance’ ahead of the release of their debut album on Tiny Engines in early 2019. The disparate sound on both tracks hints at great things ahead.
‘Mute’ is all detuned and jaggedy guitars with high-pitched vocals and a slow-burning intro that reminded us of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. The song kicks into a gear around a minute in and is packed with curveballs that can’t fail to enchant you. ‘Trance’ is no less eccentric, coming off as a DIY Broken Social Scene with emo stylings and a tendency to veer towards fantastically fiddly math rock.
Club Night are a band bursting with creativity. Get in line.
