Clothes Circuit Celebrates 35 Years of Consignment Shopping

Irene Mylan, owner of Clothes Circuit

I almost hate to bring attention to how amazing Clothes Circuit is, because the more shoppers they get, the harder it will be for me to score amazing deals! This is truly an act of love, that I am revealing my best secret for looking like a million bucks on a budget. Every day, on the Clothes Circuit floor you will find designer brands such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermes, Gucci, Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Pedro Garcia, Ippolita, David Yurman, Oscar del la Renta, Brunello Cucinelli, Etro, rag & bone, Vince, Lafayette 148, Frame, Joie, Lululemon, The North Face, Athleta, and Zella. From clothing to shoes to jewelry to handbags, Clothes Circuit has the absolute best prices on designer deals. And they've recently added athleisure wear to the mix to meet the needs of their customers. đŸ™Œ
Irene Mylan, and her then partner, Ethel Sexton, opened Clothes Circuit in Preston Center in 1983. This pioneer of Dallas consignment is a community of luxury, fashion loving women and is still located in one of the most affluent areas of Dallas. Mylan grew up in Los Angeles, CA and recalls her mother as a devoted thrift store shopper, and, although she was pleased with the finds, she wanted nothing to do with her haunts. She now laughs at the truth in the maxim “that the very thing one avoids the most, overcomes them.” As the economic landscape changed, so has the attitude toward shopping secondhand. “I am grateful that my mother’s powerful persuasion led me to create Clothes Circuit, a place to openly celebrate the thrill of finding a bargain. I think she would be delighted to know that resale is now quite chic.” Mylan, a graduate of USC and Stanford University, began her career in social services and was an environmental lobbyist in Oregon before moving to Texas.
When the store opened in 1983, Dallasites happily embraced its services, consigning their gently used clothing and accessories. At the time, only 10% of those consignors were also shoppers. Thirty-five years later, the climate has changed, and well over 50% of its consignors are also shoppers. "When a car went through the front window of the smaller store on Sherry Lane, just before opening, and shoppers and consignors walked through the shattered plate glass to shop and drop off clothing, I knew the enterprise was a successful one.” - Irene Mylan, owner of Clothes Circuit in Dallas, Texas.
During the month of March, Clothes Circuit will donate $1 for every item they sell to a different local charity each week. So, enjoy shopping for a cause!
