Close of Play: The Nightly Wimbledon Blog from The D.C For the duration of the world's greatest tennis tournament – this year from 24th June to the 7th July – CLOSE OF PLAY will bring you a Wimbledon fact of the day. (The London Nightly Photoblog will return on the 8th July…weather permitting!)

Royal Wimbledon… In his role as President, the Duke of Kent (the Queen’s cousin) made a change in etiquette at the famously traditional tennis tournament. From 2003 it has no longer been a requirement for the players to bow or curtsey to the Royal Box unless the occupants of said box are HM The Queen or HRH the Prince of Wales.
A London Walk costs £9 – £7 concession. To join a London Walk, simply meet your guide at the designated tube station at the appointed time. Details of all London Walks can be found at www.walks.com.
