For the duration of the world's greatest tennis tournament – this year from 24th June to the 7th July – CLOSE OF PLAY will bring you a Wimbledon fact of the day. (The London Nightly Photoblog will return on the 8th July…weather permitting!)Strawberries and Cream… the traditional tucker of the Wimbledon Championships is strawberries and cream. An estimated 28,000 kilos of strawberries are consumed during the fortnight, doused in around 7000 litres of fresh cream.
