As we end Breast Cancer Awareness month I commend Cline Cellars for their support of breast cancer, "Living Beyond Breast Cancer". A portion of the proceeds from every bottle of Cashmere goes to support breast cancer foundations. To date they have contributed more than $270,000.
I ended the month with a bottle of 2012 Cashmere. This wine is a blend of 35% Mourvedre, 24% Syrah, 23% Grenache and 18% Petite Sirah. It was aged for 6 months in oak and 25% of it was in new oak.
Immediately in the glass I got a strong grapey aroma, but then after a while it was strong red cherry. The palate was bursting with fruit. Red cherry, raspberry and plum.
I paired this with a smoked leg of lamb, roasted potatoes and butternut squash.
