The cleric who was remanded on the charge of making an anonymous phone call to the Public Security Ministry citing that mosques and villages in Akurana are to be attacked on Ramazan day as a retaliation
to the Easter Sunday attacks were ordered to be granted bail by Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis.
The Chief Magistrate while issuing the order said that it is the duty of a law-abiding citizen to inform the competent authority of information known to him and by making the person who gave such information a suspect and bringing him to court, no person will disclose any matter he knows to the competent authorities.
The Magistrate ordered bail after considering the submissions made by the suspect’s lawyer.
He said that the suspect has only informed the Defense Ministry about the information he got from the Internet and that he did not know its veracity.
