An inmate of the Kalutara Prison died yesterday morning following a clash between two groups of inmates, prison sources said.
Police said that the 46-year-old inmate named P.G. Sunil was a resident of Molkawa. He had been imprisoned on December 22 on charges of theft.
The deceased was admitted to the Teaching Hospital in Nagoda on Sunday, and later succumbed to his injuries.
The body has been placed in the mortuary of the Kalutara Teaching Hospital for post-mortem examination.
The Kalutara North Police are investigating the incident.
