Clarence Fountain has died, he was 88. The Gospel legend was the founding member of the Blind Boys of Alabama.
The leader of the award-winning group for more than 60 years, died on June 3rd at a hospital near his home in Baton Rouge, La.
The Blind Boys’ manager, Charles Driebe, said the cause was complications of diabetes.

With Fountain at the helm, the Blind Boys rose from humble beginnings to the pinnacles of musical achievement – winning multiple Grammy Awards, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and an NEA National Heritage Fellowship, as well as being inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and performing at the White House.
Our heartfelt prayers are with the family of Fountain.
