Did you DIY? If so what did you do?
I love crafty projects so was very keen to do as much as I could, along with my very helpful and creative family and friends. I printed and cut all the invites, menus, place cards. My maid of honour and I made hundreds of paper cones which were decorations at the ceremony. We painted the boxes for the tables and a friend's father made the wreath for the head table backdrop. One of my bridesmaids did all the flowers for the day.
We have booked a trip to Europe for 6 weeks later this year - to visit friends on their OEs in London and travel France, Italy and Turkey.
In hindsight is there anything you would have done differently?
We went through a few iterations of style and decorations before finally deciding on the end result - some of our initial ideas became too complicated so we quickly realised that keeping it simple kept costs and stress down. In the end there is nothing that we would change!
Do you have any tips or tricks for engaged couples?
Find your own style: Sites such as Pinterest are so great for finding inspiration and cool ideas. However, try to avoid a 'Pinterest wedding' - make sure the style of the day reflects you.
Consider having your photos before the ceremony: Some brides feel uncomfortable with this as they don't want to lose that special moment of their hubby-to-be seeing them for the first time at the end of the aisle. However, it definitely is worth considering. The hour or two taking photos with your wedding party is so special and fun; it was perfect enjoying it with them without needing to rush back to guests. You can still achieve a romantic 'first look' (and it's just between you and your man!).
