Story: Civil War starts as America has fallen into war, divided for power. War journalists Lee (Dunst), Joel (Moura) and Sammy (Henderson) want to head across America from New York City to Washington DC to interview the President (Offerman). They are joined by rookie journalist Jessie (Spaeny) who idolises Lee.
As they travel across America, they see the divide through different states. The threats become more dangerous the further they go, and it leads to them needing to question how far they will go.
Verdict on Civil War
Civil War is an action thriller following a group of war journalists traveling across America during a conflict. They deal with the dangers and threats as the youngest member learns of how much is being risked.
This movie takes us to a dangerous situation as America has fallen. It shows the divide that presents different dangers in each state. The best example is the haunting scene with Jesse Plemons, which will leave you stunned. Outside of the bigger picture, we see a rookie journalist wanting to learn from their idol. It presents a mentor relationship as they must evolve during the journey.
On the more negative side of things, we don’t seem to get enough reason behind what caused everything. I know we don’t always need to know, but it could have offered even more to learn the motivation, rather than just seeing things happening. The whole series of performances are wonderful, and Kirsten Dunst is the standout.
Final Thoughts – Civil War leaves you shocked, stunned, and jarred.
