Civil Offenders to Be Placed Under House Arrest

The Minister of State for Justice and Prison Affairs Anuradha Jayaratne says all those found guilty of civil offences will be placed under house arrest in future in order to reduce the overcrowding in prisons.

The programme to place those guilty of civil offences under house arrest will be implemented this year, he said while speaking to journalists in Kandy.
