Civi Civic & R. Stevie Moore – When You Gonna Find Me A Wife

R. Stevie More’s discography covers over 400 releases dating as far back as the 60’s, making it hard to find an entry point to his massive body of work. A good place to start is – I think – 2012’s Lo-Fi High Fives…..A Kind Of Best Of. Moore’s been and is a massive influence on Ween, Ariel Pink and many current lo-fi musicians, yet he remains greatly overlooked. Maybe now, in a world where artists like Mac DeMarco have found near-fame by recording jangly “bedroom-pop”, there is a wider space to be filled by musicians once taged too obscure. But on “When You Gonna Find Me A Wife”, a collaboration with instrumental rock group Civil Civic, Moore actually comes close to a ‘semi-hit’ – at least in the way Ariel Pink’s “Put Your Number On My Phone” is a hit.
