A Cirrus Vision jet flies overhead while we were waiting for the Fleet Week airshow to start. The Vision is a single-engine Very Light Jet that first flew in 2008 and was later awarded the Collier Trophy in 2018 for the “greatest achievement in aeronautics or astronautics in America” during the preceding year, being the first certified single-engine civilian jet. The engine placement on top of the fuselage and V-tail arrangement were a solution to reducing cabin noise. The designation “SF” stands for “single-fanjet” engine. 500 Vision jets have been delivered to date.
