The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has recorded a five-hour statement from Sangeetha Weeraratne, a veteran and popular actress, related to the investigations regarding the large-scale financial frauds committed by Thilini Priyamali.
Information from the Criminal Investigation Department revealed that Weeraratne had been questioned about her relationship with Priyamali as well as about any transactions done with her. Here, the investigating officers of the Criminal Investigation Department had also shown a video footage involving Thilini to Weeraratne and she was speechless.
A senior Police officer stated that a re-investigation will be conducted regarding the information given by Sangeetha Weeraratne during interrogation and if it is felt necessary to question her further, she will be called back to the Criminal Investigation Department.
Last week, the Criminal Investigation Department recorded a four hour statement from actress Semini Iddamalgoda regarding her relationship with Thilini Priyamali.
Another actress has also been summoned before the Criminal Investigation Department in connection with the investigation regarding Thilini Priyamali, but she has not appeared before the CID as yet. The attention of the investigating officers has also been drawn to a transaction where Priyamali is said to have given Rs.15 million to a popular announcer and his wife to buy a house.
Meanwhile, The CID also questioned actor and former Minister Jeevan Kumaranatunga on Saturday for over five hours.
Sources said that the CID questioned him about he and his family members’ connections with Priyamali and producing a film. CID sources revealed that they also questioned his wife about her relationship with Priyamali.
