Christmas arrangement vase filler ideas

Regardless of the occasion, it's always important to choose the best flowers. When you send Valentine's Day flowers, for example, you will usually choose a bouquet of red flowers like roses. When it comes to Christmas, the most popular colour scheme for flower arrangements is red, white, and green. Usually the flowers are red and white and the foliage is a dark shade of green similar to that of your Christmas tree. Once you have selected the perfect flowers for your festive display, it's important to choose the right vase. Green, red, and even black vases work well for these displays but clear glass vases are the most popular for all arrangements. If you use a clear vase and you want to spruce it up a little, you can also add some vase fillers. Just like the colour scheme of the bouquet, your vase fillers need to suit the occasion.

Vase fillers come in all shapes and sizes. Some need to be kept dry while others can be submerged in the vase water. Pine cones, for example, need to remain dry while colourful gems can get wet. It's not only about how the water will affect the filler items, but also how they will affect the water. When you use vase fillers that eventually degrade in water, you encourage bacterial growth and this causes the flowers to perish sooner rather than later.

So, how can you add natural fillers like pine cones, berries, acorns, and so on? The easiest way is by setting aside large items and using them to decorate the table around the vase. Smaller items, like berries, can be placed in a second vase. You will need to place one clear glass vase inside another and then fill up the space between with your fillers.

If you use artificial flowers, you can add pine cones and similar items to the vase without worrying about affecting the vase water or the lifespan of the flowers. While you're at it, you can also add some accessories to the bouquet itself. Gold and red go very well together which means that you do not have to add white if you don't want to. Green, red, and gold look fabulous and festive together.
