Plot Summary:
Breakthrough is based on the novel “The Impossible,” from Joyce Smith. When Joyce (played by Chrissy Metz) basketball-star adopted son John (Marcel Ruiz) has fallen through thin ice, and a doctor tells her, “We’ve done everything medically possible — there’s nothing more we can do.” All hope seems lost as her son laid in a hospital bed lifeless. Joyce refuses to give up. Her strong belief in God and the power of prayer, inspires those around her to continue to pray for John’s recovery, even in the face of every case history and scientific prediction.
The film also stars Josh Lucas, Topher Grace, Mike Colter, Sam Trammell and Dennis Haysbert. It hits theaters Easter weekend.
