Chris Bauer Talks with 98.3 The Key About True Blood and Other Roles

Long before Andy Bellefleur came along, his portrayer Chris Bauer played quite a few villans in movies such as Face/Off, Devil’s Advocate, and 8MM. Fans of HBO’s The Wire may also remember him as a union boss who made deals with the mob. But as Bauer told 98.3 The Key in a recent radio interview, playing the villan isn’t always fun:

“It used to be. You only have to play those guys a couple of times before you know what’s like to be in that skin and then it’s fun to move on to something a little more normal.”

But as far as television shows go, he’s very happy to be on one because of the many great writers and roles that are out there for actors:

“There are so many great writers in television right now…. The stories they’re able to tell on TV right now reach a lot more aspects of our world than the movies do. I’m really grateful I’ve found a comfy little home on television right now.”

As far as Andy is concerned though, Bauer would like the character to be seen more than just as the bumbling, inept sheriff. He doesn’t exactly get to deal with regular humans all the time:

“I’m just trying to get through the day and instead of dealing with… I don’t know, drunks and burglars, I’ve got to deal with werewolves, shape shifters, vampires and witches.”
