Verdict on Chosen Family

Recap

The movie follows a middle-aged woman struggling to hold her life together when friends and family keep demanding things from her. She must decide what she wants if she is going to make the best decision for her future.

Best Parts

The movie uses comedy well to get enough laughs without relying on only getting laughs. It can put a spotlight on people who are in the same position where they always look out for somebody else. The performances are fun too, with Heather Graham and Julia Stiles playing opposite to what you would expect from the pair.

Worst Parts

The movie has a lot of nice ideas, but it does feel like just a random week in the lives of the characters, who would return to their previous problems quickly. Yes, this could be seen as a window to a small chapter, but it doesn’t feel like a lasting change would come from anything for anyone in the film.

Final ThoughtsChosen Family has good laughs but not enough emotions.
