Chocolate Martini

For those of you who know me you may be wondering as to why it has taken me 9 months to make a chocolate based cocktail.  The answer is I’ve know idea so tonight I thought I best rectify this.

50g 70% dark chocolate
50g golden caster sugar
50ml vodka
Dusting of cocoa powder

Melt the chocolate and sugar in 75ml of water stirring continuously – allow the mixture to cool.  Next pour the vodka and chocolate mixture into a shaker and add ice.  Shake.  Strain into a glass and dust with cocoa powder.

I can’t decide what I think of this…… perhaps I am too much of a chocolate purist, maybe next time I will take away the water, sugar and vodka!  I am thinking that perhaps a warm cocktail with a dark rum and chocolate base could work well, definitely one for winter.
